I think a lot of them really just get a sense of pride and accomplishment. The project not only came with that sense of pride for Southwests Mark Pekala. It also came with a medal, thanks to the Twin Cities Marathon. The 10th-grader completed the race in three hours and 49 minutes this past October, after creating a training plan and executing it over the summer and fall.
